| I have been constructing and running this site now for 4 years. As every webmaster knows there is a incredible amount of time, money, effort, blood, sweat, tears, laughs, smiles, and all kinds of things which go into making and keeping a good site on the net. I used to have a second camera - A Canon L1 which now is not working. Which I purchased for $1.5K a few years ago. Also paid $300 to have repaired once (tape mechanism messed up). I'm looking at another $300 to have it fixed again and face the prospect of it dying again should I use it for the cam. All I can say is that that video camera ROCKED. The images were incredible, low light qualities excellent. I wish people would write to Canon and talk them into sending me their XL1 with a set of nice lenses for the work I'm doing. Beyond this I also purchased a coolpix 990 of which many of the newer images which will be coming up on this site will be from. This also cost about $1K a year ago. None of this includes the electricity cost for 2 computers running continously, or a dedicated connection which costs $200/month. And I do this all because I like ants and I want to share what I'm doing with them with you all. To help if possible all of you. But it's getting harder. The live G2 feed takes a whole computer 24/7 which costs me about $25/month to run. The antcam Time Machine archive of 900K+ images and growing (50+GB) takes diskspace, energy, etc. So at some point I'm going to be sectionalizing this site and making certian things only available to people who make contributions/donations. I still havn't figured out the details. But for anyone who donates $100 or over they will get a lifetime membership to this site and 10% off all products that I make and sell (for life). $20 Gets a person 1 year membership and 5% off for that year. There are a lot of things to come which I hope will be informative, suprise and perhaps entertain you. Just about all of the information will be available to everyone. But in time there will be features which will only be available to members. It's going to take time AND it's going to ROCK. I have patience like a ant, and am in no rush.
